Classical Babies was founded in February 2010 by Antonia Azoitei and fellow mum Estela Garcia, after Antonia, a professional violinist, became frustrated that she couldn’t go to or play concerts anymore. Estela suggested she give her own and what started as a small quartet concert for a few friends and their babies in her living room soon became a hugely well attended monthly event at the O2 Centre and a popular weekly series in Belsize Park. Classical Babies now give concerts across the UK Midlands where they provide live chamber-music for parents and babies in a relaxed, informal setting. The music is carefully chosen to appeal to both babies and adults and performed by professional musicians, ranging from harpists and sopranos, to trumpeters and string quartets. With soft flooring and toys for the babies and coffee and cake for the adults, concerts don’t come more relaxed and baby-friendly than this!
